Holiday Light Recycling Begins Dec. 1

holiday_light_recyclingEVANSTON, IL – The City of Evanston, in conjunction with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), will begin its annual holiday light recycling program on Sunday, December 1. Holiday lights can be dropped off for recycling at the Evanston Ecology Center, Main Evanston Library and Levy Senior Center. This year’s donations will be recycled through a program supported by the City of Evanston, SWANCC and Elgin Recycling.

Acceptable holiday lights for recycling include: mini-lights (or Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords. Please note that garlands, live greens and wreaths are not acceptable in this free program. The holiday light recycling program will begin on December 1, 2013 and run through January 31, 2014.

8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Saturday

Main Evanston Library, 1703 Orrington Ave.
9 a.m. – 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday
9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday
12 p.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday

Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave.
7 a.m. – 9 p.m., Monday through Friday
9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday
