The City of Evanston is participating in the Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Community Challenge with the goal of reducing community energy usage. By enrolling new participants in one of six existing Nicor Gas programs, Evanston will raise up to $25,000 in prize money for a building retrofit for one of our local non-profits. Also, the first 100 residents to sign up will receive five FREE Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs) for your participation.

Here’s a very easy way for you to participate;

  •  Sign up for ENERGYBUZZ today here>>>. ENERGYBUZZ is a free, online tool that helps you track your energy use to save money and earn rewards for the energy-efficient choices you make.
  • EnergyBUZZ lets you see how your gas bill compares to friends, family and neighbors, and gives you simple steps to reduce your energy consumption.
  • As you reduce your energy bill, ENERGYBUZZ rewards you with points you can redeem for coupons and incentives at local businesses.

It won’t cost you a penny, but it will add $50 towards an Evanston non-profit and then we will give the first 100 residents five FREE CFLs! Follow the link above to sign up today and then bring proof of registration to room 4700 on the fourth floor of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave. (8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monda y -Friday), to pick up your five free CFLs.
