How Is Evanston Addressing Food Waste? A Discussion on Sept. 28

The EPA estimates that at least 30 percent of food in the U.S. goes uneaten. Evanston alone produces an estimate 270 tons of food waste each week. All that uneaten food rots in landfills where it accounts for a major portion of greenhouse gas emissions.

Citizens’ Greener Evanston invites you to a discussion at the Celtic Knot on Wednesday, September 28, 6:30 -8 p.m. to find out what some Evanston groups are doing to address this major issue in our own community. Please come with your questions! Panelists:

– Devon Reid, Plates Over Waste
– Erlene Howard, Collective Resource
– Tim Sonder, Edible Evanston

WHERE: The Celtic Knot, 626 Church St. (across from the library)
WHEN: Wednesday, Sept. 28, 6:30 -8 p.m.
